Job Summary

Kforce's client, a Suffolk County Long Island, NY-based full-service CPA firm, is seeking a Staff Auditor/Accountant. This role involves serving as the in-charge Auditor for diverse engagements, managing junior staff, developing testing strategies, completing internal controls documentation, performing substantive external audit procedures, and preparing financial statements and management letters. The position also includes preparing and/or reviewing nonprofit information returns.

Must Have

  • Serve as in-charge Auditor for diverse engagements.
  • Manage junior staff members on engagements.
  • Develop testing strategies during the planning phase of in-charge engagements.
  • Complete planning documentation according to firm standards, GAAS, and best practices.
  • Complete internal controls documentation, risk assessment, testing and random sample generation.
  • Perform substantive external audit procedures in moderate and high-risk audit areas (account receivable, revenue, debt, net assets/equity).
  • Handle reporting phases of engagements, including completing reporting documentation.
  • Prepare financial statements and other financial reports for essentially all engagements.
  • Prepare management letters for essentially all engagements.
  • Prepare and/or review nonprofit information returns (IRS Form 990 and New York State CHAR500).
  • College degree in Accounting (150 credits preferred).
  • 3+ years of audit experience in public accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and research abilities.
  • Applied working knowledge of US GAAP and GAAS.

Good to Have

  • CPA certification.
  • Experience with non-profit, school, and/or employee benefit plan clients.
  • GAGAS experience.
  • Familiarity with ProSystem fx Engagement.

Requirements

  • College degree in Accounting - 150 credits preferred
  • CPA is a plus
  • 3+ years of audit experience in public accounting, preferably with non-profit, school, and/or employee benefit plan clients
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and research abilities
  • Applied working knowledge of US GAAP and GAAS; GAGAS experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with ProSystem fx Engagement is preferred

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
